Here's an interview with the legend that is Keith Richards, courtesy of Queue magazine.

Interviewer: So tell me what you think of all the Stones tribute/cover bands.
Keith Richards: Well man, there was this one band. Saw them in some juke joint. Lazy b******* or something...

A Day At The Races
Saturday sees the annual Idle Pop pilgramage to York races. Booze. Top totty in their best frocks. Losing money. Missing the first/second/third race due to inability to leave pub. Missing all the races due to inability to leave pub - 2007. More booze. Jon's mad home made magazines. Baz completely off his face. Sunglasses. Vodka red bull. Shorts and disgusting white legs. Long haired night porter's face when he sees we're back again. Walking miles. Jesus Salmonhead. Invading the cricket pitch. Gatecrashing a wedding. Befriended by oik who bought us bottles of champagne. No more booze. Headache. Shack getting up ridiculously early and being the most miserable git on earth.
Happy days................
Look out for the Idle Pop tour bus.

In 2007 the News of the Pop rumoured our very own Tight Arsed Monkey Pop to be dating TV star Sarah Beeny. Rumours were rife that Chris was climbing Sarah's property ladder at every available opportunity. In fact when Chris went missing for 3 days in 2007 I can exclusively reveal that he was discovered in Sarah's gargantuan cleavage. Here's a pic of the lovely Sarah trying out our new exclusive Idle Pop Wallpaper whilst doing a spot of DIY in her bathroom.
Idle Pop wallpaper is not available at B&Q, Homebase, Focus, Wickes or any reputable DIY store

Idle Pop have got many famous fans from York, Guy Fawkes, Dick Turpin, Dame Judi Dench and Hunter from Gladiators to name but a few. I wonder if any famous fans will be at the Speakeasy in York, this Saturday 5th July.
In a bizarre and unfortunate twist I have to inform you that Chris our bass player has been diagnosed with guy fawking of the leg.

Back in the 80s our slimline drummer FatBoy Shack dated the lesbian twins from Neighbours Gayle & Gillian Blakeney, better known as Caroline & Christina Alessi. Unfortunately our boy Shack got drunk and couldn't tell which one was Gayle and which one was Gillian. Frankly in a "3 in a bed romp" (copyright, The News Of The World) who cares? However, the twins got slightly peeved when, in the height of passion, Shack started shouting, "Colette!!" over and over. They nicked off, disappeared from Neighbours, had a disastrous attempt at a singing career and were never seen or heard from again.
Here's a reminder of how the pouting Aussie duo looked in those days.

The band members change their names
In a cunning move designed to put stalkers off their trail we can exclusively reveal that the Pop boys have taken to using anagrams instead of their real names. This week, Idle Pop are:
Vocals - Shaved Aw
Guitars - Raga Stinky
Guitars - Zap Snob Moth
Bass - Clannish Rudders
Drums - Hackney Sandlot
Sound - Warlike Tuts
Sounds like they should be in a reggae/hip hop/death metal band to us.

It's come to my attention that some of you lot out there in Pop World are somewhat sceptical about the ever growing list of the Pop's Famous Fans. Well, when Sophie Ellis Bextor (is it just me or does she look like a space alien?) got up with the boys to do a rousing version of Anarchy In The UK at the recent Brewery Tap gig we decided to keep quiet.....
....Until now. Because, non-believers - Take a look at this.

Murder on the dancefloor indeed.

New Date
Hot off the Idle Pop press - we'll be playing at the Swing Gate on Friday 25th January.
This day is of course the 10th anniversary of Posh & Becks' engagement. Aaaaaahhhhh. So, come and help the happy couple celebrate. You never know they might even put in an appearance.
Contrary to malicious rumours, Idle Pop are currently not rehearsing.

The Spice Girls have been in the news recently and it reminded us that they have long been fans of The Pop. In a cheeky move before they were famous, the girls stole the Pop boys' nicknames - Posh, Sporty, Scary, Baby and Ginger.
As a thank you, at the height of their fame, they decided to call their film Idle Pop World. Unfortunately at the 11th hour the Idle Pop management refused permission for the film makers to use the name.
Here's a rare promo poster of how the film should have looked.

Famous Fans # 3 - Topical
The very lovely and surgically enhanced Dannii Minogue is a big Pop Tart. Not to be outdone by big sister Kylie, Dannii has been romantically linked with Pop guitarist Baz. So keen is Dannii to spend time with Tourette Tommo that during time off from X-Factor she has gone under cover at Bradford Sorting Office - see below. Poor little Dannii didn't realise that of course the Posties are on strike so Baz was nowhere to be seen.

In 2003 Dave spent a pleasant evening in the Khyber Indian Restaurant with Angelina Jolie eating Chicken Bhuna and drinking cheap lager.
"I didn't realise until the next morning exactly who I'd been sat next to. I didn't get a phone number or anything. Of course, someone that famous would never look twice at someone like me!" ...............said Angelina.
On the rebound she had to settle for second best and started dating Brad Pitt.
It's a little known fact that Angelina has an Idle Pop tattoo as a reminder of her lost love. Here's a rare photo.

Famous Fans
It's a little known fact that Idle Pop have legions of famous female fans. Oh yes, and here in the first of an occasional series is Famous Fan # 1 - the very lovely Kylie Minogue.
In 1997 Kylie famously asked Gaz to run away with her. Unfortunately Gaz misheard the message on his crackly old answer machine tape and spent 3 nights in Walsall whilst Kylie was in the penthouse suite of the Intercontinental Hotel in Warsaw.
Broken hearted Gaz returned to Yorkshire and wrote this touching poem - "Kylie, oh Kylie, your face is so smiley". It was a very short poem.
Here's Kylie riding Idle Pop's Love Rocket.

Dates For The Diary
2 upcoming gigs have been cancelled - Sept 28th at the Bridge, Huddersfield and Nov 17th at the Wellington, Bradford. We hope to rearrange these ASAP. Don't despair my little Pop Tarts because a new date has been added at the Lane Ends, Bradford on Saturday 6th October.

September 2 2007
Another great gig at the Coniston last night. Landlord Phil looked marvellous in his Landlord Pop t-shirt. As is tradition at the Coniston we had yet another guest singer. Vikki Lea from Angel of Sin. After years of standing behind Dave and having only his scrawny arse to look at it really was a pleasure................to hear Teenage Kicks sung in tune. Haha! We're back at the Coniston on the 22nd December for our Christmas gig.

July 30 2007
It's holiday time in Popworld and the 5 members of Idle Pop have boarded a colourful double decker bus for their annual European Tour. Baz is driving of course as he has a PSV licence or at least that's what he tells us. The rest of us will be in the back watching Summer Holiday on a black and white portable TV and drinking cheap lager. Skegness is very nice this time of year. See you all at the Tap on the 17th August where we will all look like bronzed gods.

July 29 2007
Today is officially Idle Pop No News Day.

July 28 2007
Schwiiiinnnnggggggg
Great gig last night at the Swing Gate. We had our very first stagediver, a disappearing sound engineer, cocked up My Generation....again and the landlord bought us all a beer - Cheers. Hot, sweaty, drunk, disorderly, - and all right next door to Dave's "factory".

July 23 2007
I'm getting a bit of stick at the lack of updates on the News page. Well moving house (twice) having a baby, day job, band and keeping Kylie satisfied is a full time job let me tell you. Anyway here is the latest band news Pop fans -
Shack's got a dodgy back that is making him more miserable than usual.
Dave is openly flaunting the smoking ban at his place of work.
Gaz has moved to a village in the middle of nowhere and his new best friend is a sheep.
Chris pressganged us into playing a gig for 11 year olds at a Primary school. Some of the lyrics had to be tweaked slightly but it was surprisingly very good. We now know what it must be like to be in Take That.
Baz is a militant striking Postie. He can be seen stood by a burning bin outside the sorting office lobbing bricks at his colleagues and shouting, "Scab!"
Tim has been diagnosed with narcolepsy. The condition seems to be getting worse especially at Idle Pop gigs.
So there you have it. Never a dull moment in Popworld. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

July 23 2007
NEXT GIG - FRIDAY 27th JULY - SWING GATE, IDLE ROAD, BRADFORD.
Aaaaah the good old Swing Gate. Scene of many a drunk and debauched night in our youth. Memories oh yes, vomiting in the car park, blazing rows with girlfriends, fights with drunken psychos, watching footie on a TV with a 12" screen, not being able to get served on a Friday night, jealous boyfriends/lovers/husbands, feet sticking to the carpet, not being able to get through the door any Christmas/New Year's Eve, American Pie on the juke box 200 times every night, getting your car nicked from the car park, getting kicked out at 3:30pm before all day opening.......I could go on
Happy Days!

Another great and packed night at the Coniston last night. Sorry about the cover of Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody......never again! Once again we had a guest singer. This time it was for Cigarettes & Alcohol. Yet again we have no idea who it was. This seems to be a recurring theme at the Coniston. Thanks to Phil for continuing to invite us back. Idle Pop's last gig of 2006 is on December 29th at The Bridge Hotel, Hudderfield.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thanks to everyone who turned up at the Coniston on Friday night. It was another packed, hot and steamy night at our second home. Seemed like everyone enjoyed it as much as we did. Highlights of the night were the drunken "dancing" at the front and the mystery singer during Don't Believe A Word. Who the f*** was that?!? Thanks to Phil and all at the Coniston - we'll be back in September.

April 25 2006
Apologies to everybody who turned up at The Head expecting to see Idle Pop. The gig was cancelled at the last minute - 7pm - due to circumstances beyond our control. The venue claimed to have cancelled the gig but conveniently forgot to inform us here. Once again, we can only apologise.

April 21 2006
At great expense we have employed a professional photographer to take some snaps at our forthcoming gig at The Head, Great Horton Road, Bradford on Tuesday 25th April. These will be published on the website. Actually the photographer is our good mate Mac and if the photos turn out OK we might buy him a beer. So, if you'd like to see your ugly mug on the web, turn up, have a word with Mac and we'll sort out the rest.

April 20 2006
Thanks to all(!) who came to see us at the White Hart. For those who weren't there, you missed a truly memorable version of My Sharona.....

April 19 2006
Look out for a new feature on Idle Pop in the latest version of Innscene magazine - freely available at all good pubs and clubs. Unfortunately Mike has made a grave error in judgement by publishing a photo of our singer Dave. We'll never get another booking.....

April 07 2006
A new date at The Coniston, Idle, Bradford is now confirmed for Friday 30th June 06. This is during the World Cup and Idle Pop will of course be supporting England all the way. If England are still in the competition we'll try and play a football song.

April 05 2006
Idle Pop feature in the latest issue of Innscene magazine.
"STOP THE PRESS....PUB MANAGER COMPLIMENTS BAND!!!!!
Well it's not every day that you hear a landlord rant and rave about a band but Phil, manager from the Coniston, Idle, couldn't plug this band enough. Who am I talking about.....I know the suspense is killing you so I'll say it....IDLE POP.
I quote: This band entertained from the second they stepped on stage right to the end of the night. They pulled a good crowd and kept every member of their delighted audience riveted from start to finish. In fact the customers didn't want to go home, but then again the buggers never do."

Thanks to Phil for the kind words and to Mike at Innscene.

April 01 2006
Live at The Coniston.
What a night!
The Coniston was packed for Idle Pop's triumphant return to live action. The band ripped through 2 scorching sets to a very appreciative and slightly inebriated crowd. Thanks to everyone for coming and apologies for the sound problems in the first set. We'll be back at The Coniston very soon.

March 2006
The band are currently rehearsing at Voltage Studios in Bradford for their upcoming gigs in April.
