Priv/SSB

This last weekend was another Idle Pop overload with 2 dates at the Bold Privateer, Wrose and the Suburban Style Bar, Bingley and........... what a weekend!
The Priv was full of many familiar faces (just a certain guitar player missing!) and a lot of crazy, drunken dancing. Very cool
The SSB was........quite honestly, mental! I don't know what the festival crowd had been drinking (or otherwise) but boy did they know how to party. Special thanks to Paula the new 6th member of Idle Pop who played tambourine with us "on stage" for the entire second set! If anybody who was taking photos sends them to us, we'll put them online

April 21 2009 - Mayday Bank Holiday Idle Pop Overload
Oh yes!! 2 dates for the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend.
Friday 1st May. We return to the White Hart, Eccleshill for landlady Karen's leaving party. Karen gave us our first ever gig as Idle Pop way back in May 2005. So come along and give Karen a huge send off. It's sure to be hot, sticky and emotional......
Sunday 3rd May sees the Pop return to the Suburban Style Bar in Bingley. We've played a few bank holiday Sundays here and they've always been great nights. Get there early to avoid disappointment. The Pop will be live on stage in a blur of flashbombs and smoke at 7pm. (We may be exaggerating the flashbombs part).

January 19 2009 - Important News That Could Threaten Live Music
Government Plans Live Noise Restriction
Live music in the UK is apparently under threat as the government is reportedly planning to introduce new laws that will force all live music venues to fit noise limiting devices.
According to a new online petition all venues that are applying or re-applying for their entertainment license will need to pay for and fit a noise limiting device.
The worry is that either venues will not be able to afford the limiting device, and that the ones that do will see the sound quality/atmosphere/fun taken out of live shows. In 2008 Bruce Springsteen was forced to put in place a noise cancelling curtain at his Emirates Stadium shows, and for many the effect was that the gig was simply too quiet and it ruined what was a great performance from the band.
According to the new petition, which has just over 20,000 votes, "the government wish to consider it a legal requirement in the new tax year to introduce laws insisting anyone applying or re-applying for an entertainment license must have a noise control device fitted to the venue."
